Profile

Mihai-Victor Curtasu

Mihai-Victor Curtasu is an Assistant Professor Tenure-Track of Metabolomics in Animal Nutrition and Health at Aarhus University, Denmark. He holds a PhD in animal models for metabolic diseases and nutrition physiology research (from AU, Denmark), and an Erasmus Mundus double degree in Sustainable Animal Nutrition and Feeding. He has a strong background in untargeted mass spectrometry, with a primary focus on metabolomics applications in animal nutrition, health, and disease. His research centers on instrumental, methodological, and integrative multi-omics advancements, with a particular focus on swine as models for metabolic diseases, livestock nutrition and health interventions, and ruminant methane mitigation strategies. Another important aspect of his work is the integration of gut metabolomics with microbiome data to decipher host–microbe interactions and their impact on animal health and productivity. He is also involved in ongoing projects focusing on wildlife nutrition and health (penguins, lynx, wild rabbits, bees). The overarching aim of his work is to unravel biochemical mechanisms at the diet–animal–microbiome interface, thereby advancing sustainable livestock production and improving animal health.
