Freyr Jóhannsson
Freyr Jóhannsson received his Ph.D. in Systems Biology from the University of Iceland in 2020. His primary research areas include metabolomics analysis in biochemical genetics and the study of blood component storage in blood banks, with a particular focus on systems-level analysis of metabolomics data using constraint-based metabolic modeling. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, he pursued a fellowship in Biochemical Genetics at the Mayo Clinic and subsequently became a board-certified biochemical geneticist. His current research centers on the development and application of metabolomics methodologies in the fields of newborn screening and inborn errors of metabolism. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland and serves as the Laboratory Manager for the Newborn Screening Laboratory in Iceland.
