Profile

Julia Debik

Julia Debik is an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Health at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She holds an MSc in Physics and Mathematics and a PhD in Medical Technology (2021), where she focused on the metabolic characterization of breast cancer for improved precision medicine. Her main research interests include data analysis and machine learning, with a focus on disease prevention and early diagnostics, particularly the interplay between genetics, lifestyle, physical activity, and disease development. She has extensive experience ranging from detailed molecular investigations in small clinical cohorts to large-scale metabolomics studies in population biobanks, where she emphasizes reproducibility and reliability to ensure findings are robust and clinically relevant. Since beginning her PhD in 2018, she has been an active member of the Nordic and international metabolomics communities. Her research has been recognized through her appointments as an Onsager Fellow and Outstanding Academic Fellow at NTNU.
